Occupational Therapy

Helping you get back to your day-to-day routine.

Occupational therapy helps the patient to regain as much independence as possible in the activities of daily living, and tasks such as grocery shopping, meal preparation or money management. Teaching the patient less strenuous ways to carry out daily activities, as well as prescribing special equipment designed to make the patient more independent, are important elements of occupational therapy.

NHC HealthCare, Chattanooga's registered occupational therapist assesses the patient's abilities, personal goals and the demands of the patient's living environment, and then structures an individual treatment program.

Treatment goals are coordinated with the patient, family members and appropriate community resources. Progress is frequently evaluated and coordinated with other members of the health care team.

The occupational therapy program at NHC HealthCare, Chattanooga increases a patient's skill and confidence. The NHC therapists work carefully with the patient to plan modifications, equipment and skills needed to return home.
